I think it is great what you guys do, I love having you at Kellenberg. I wished you hadn't run out of the second book about forgiveness though. Thought you guys were great and courageous to tell everyone about your stories.

A was expecting a boring be kind to your neighbor, dont do drugs, anti-bullying assembly. This assembly was like no other. It was extremely moving and inspiring. I look forward to reading the books. I thought that this would be another anti-bullying or anti-drugs assembly, so I Googled Breaking the Cycle's mission last evening. Reading about your message to forgive in order to move on gave me hope that this convention would be unique. My expectations were greatly exceeded. Not only have I been inspired by the emotionally moving anecdotes delivered personally by those who experienced them, but I also believe that you opened us students up to the idea that we all were, are, or will be suffering at some point in our lives.

Hashim's change of heart from a troubled gang member to a loving father truly made me realize that there is good (and God) in all people. The story of Charlie's abusive childhood and his ability to eventually forgive his alcoholic mother, whom he hated, by realizing that she did love him at her death bed, gives hope to me that the family members I have who are battling addiction are still human inside. I was especially affected by Ann Marie's courage to tell the story of her son's death by suicide due to undiagnosed clinical depression. As someone who has suffered from mental illness myself, I wish to spread the important advice she gave us to tell others how we or our peers feel so that we can all get the help that we need. I personally do not know where I would be now if I had not informed my parents of my awful symptoms about a year ago. I also thank Mr. Arnold for donating the books to our school for free so that we may all become more inspired to forgive. I know many people who dislike assemblies and reading outside of school, yet I heard many of them conversing about how much they looked forward to reading these books and that this was their favorite assembly at our school ever.

I postponed my homework to skim through the books myself! Many of us even missed first period to get our books signed and meet the speakers in the presentation, who were very cordial and accepting of questions. Thank you for preaching forgiveness with such vivid and relevant examples. I hope that you will be able to come visit Kellenberg again within the next few years for the next generation of high schoolers!

I have a new outlook on life. I hurried home from practice to just read your book. I want to learn how to forgive more because I feel I hold on to things. After your assembly today I feel like things got easier because I was able to let a couple of grudges go. I thank you for taking time out of your day to just talk to us about some of your experiences. I hope I will never forget what you said and that it becomes part of how I live in the future.
